Atlanta Weekend

A couple of weeks ago we visited Atlanta.  We started the weekend at Stone Mountain.

.

The laser light show was really cool.  Nate entertained us while we waited. :)

Next stop: Lego Land.

Our final stop was the Fernbank Museum.  Nate wanted to see the dinosaurs.

There was an awesome whale exhibit, but photography was not allowed.  There was a full sized skeleton of an adult sperm whale, actual baleen from a blue whale, and lots of other cool things.

The museum also had cool science exhibits similar to the McWane Center.

It was a fun weekend!  Our next family trip, we will be a family of four! :)

Science Camp

Nate had an awesome week at science camp.  He learned about several different scientists and did lots of cool experiments/activities.  His favorite activity was looking through owl scat for bones.  :)

One day the instructor dissected a cow eye for the class.  She invited parents to watch.  It was fascinating...and a little gross.  Nate did not want to watch the actual dissection but he did look at the individual parts.  God's creation is amazing!

Soccer Party

This year's end of season party was definitely the best. Our coach invited us to his home for a craw-fish boil.  These guys were fascinated by the craw-fish.

I was too.  It's been years since I've eaten craw-fish.  They were delicious.

Most of the boys opted for hot dogs. :)

Gulf Shores

My parents invited Nate and me to spend a few days with them at the beach.  My niece was there too.  We were so excited to spend some time with Ashlyn.  She is not coming home this summer and we miss her!  Unfortunately the weather was not the best.  It rained the entire first day and then it was unseasonably cool the last couple of days.

Thankfully, we found some fun things to entertain us.  Nate had a great time at the Gulf State Park nature center.

The weather was perfect for lots of bike rides.  We found this sideways tree on one of our rides.  Nate had to climb it almost every time we rode by.

The last day was warm enough to spend time on the beach.  There were shells and sand dollars everywhere.  Nate picked up hundreds of them and wanted to bring them all home. :) My dad also caught a flounder, which was really cool.

Soccer

After taking a break for a couple of seasons, Nate decided to play soccer again.  His team only won one game, but it was a fun season.  He had a great coach and we met several sweet families.

It was exciting to see how much Nate improved since he last played.  He was a lot more confident and even scored two goals. :)
